This website is intended for use by those being prescribed Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS); the website and its modules are not intended to be used alone. All references to TMS on this website refer to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, which is an FDA cleared treatment for depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and smoking cessation.  In other countries TMS is used for other illnesses.

The author and editors have worked to ensure that all the information on this application is accurate at the time of the publication and is consistent with general psychiatric and medical standards. As medical research and practice continue to rapidly advance, the medical standards may change. Some situations may need a treatment not covered in this website or its modules. For this reason and because human and mechanical errors can occur, we recommend that users follow the advice of their physician or prescribing clinician (care team) directing patient care.

Each patient learning module is divided into sections which are specifically designed to educate patients receiving TMS treatments. The sections are learning units which build knowledge one step at a time. This allows patients to easily navigate the program. As patients can be at different places in their need for education, there is optional content with additional sections which can meet specific needs.

At the end of each module a self-assessment is recommended.  Sharing these assessments with the care team is important to monitor care; most offices will provide these automatically, but if they do not, we recommend doing them yourself.  It is intended that this website and its modules are to be used with a patient’s prescribed treatment plan.  There are modules for depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and, coming soon, smoking cessation.  Prescribers and technicians can be trained with optional educational materials to maximize outcomes for patients by contacting help@tmsworkbook.com, or help@trainyourbrainworks.com or finding content via the Clinical TMS Society www.clinicaltmssociety.org.
